Trail Report: Thursday, January 4, 2018

Groomer headed out on New Year’s Day and will be going all week.  Trails are grooming up nicely where snowmobiles have packed down the snow.  Itasca State Park trails are groomed and all Forest Riders Trails should be completed by Friday.  Happy Riding!

The trail system received another 3 inches of snow since the last report...groomers will be heading out for the first time on Tuesday, January 2, 2018!

Temperatures have been extremely frigid, which is great for making ice!  Please stay warm and safe in this extreme cold!

Caution! We received a report of a tree across the trail near Two Inlets.  We are clearing it asap.  Just a reminder to always ride cautiously.  Thank you for keeping us informed about issues on the trails...this helps us keep the trails safe!

The Park Rapids-Two Inlets-Itasca State Park area received over 5 inches of snow on top of the couple of inches received earlier this month. Due to the snow being light and fluffy, it has been decided not to groom the trails yet.  Once the snow is a little heavier, the groomers will hit the trails!

Caution! Ice thickness on area lakes is very inconsistent. Always use extreme caution and remember these safety tips: ask local sources on ice conditions, ride with a friend, tell others where you plan to go, pack a rope, and bring a fully-charged cell phone.

The Forest Riders Snowmobile Club trail system is open and very rideable!  Trails were compacted with the groomer's roller during the last two weeks, making for a good base.  Several riders have been out and commented on how nice the trails are even though they have not been fully groomed yet.  With the snow received on Sunday and Monday, the groomers are hitting the trails today!  Come to the Park Rapids area and enjoy snowmobiling in the great up north!
